White Forest Resources, Inc. is a privately-held producer of premium metallurgical and thermal coals in the Central Appalachian coal basin. We currently operate two (2) mining operations in West Virginia.

Our premium metallurgical coals are used by coke makers around the world while our high-quality thermal coals are used to generate electricity in North America and abroad. We recognize and take very seriously the importance of providing our customers with the highest quality products and service.

Safety is always first and foremost. It is imperative that everyone understand that safety is the responsibility of each and every member of our team. We believe accidents are preventable, unsafe acts should not be performed, at-risk behavior should be eliminated, and working safely an absolute requirement.

Our mining operations and preparation facilities have been awarded numerous “Certificate of Achievement in Safety” awards from the US Department of Labor Mine Safety and Health Administration. We have also received “Mountain Guardian Award” recognition from WV Miners Health, Safety, and Training and the West Virginia Coal Association.

We take pride in our safety performance and welcome interaction with our regulatory agencies. Emphasis is placed on continuing education and awareness through annual training sessions, quarterly employee/management meetings, employee safety audits, and weekly site-specific safety meetings. We also maintain an open-door policy that facilitates the opportunity for any concern to be expressed to any level of management. 

In 2017, our operations worked 297,000 man-hours, produced 840,000 tons, and had ZERO lost-time accidents. 

Environmental stewardship begins well before any mining activity takes place through thoughtful planning. It is a core responsibility that we minimize our impact on the environment through the processes of permitting, development, mining, and reclamation. We strive to comply with all environmental regulations through monitoring of our mining practices and in meeting or exceeding all requirements in monitoring of our drainage control structures, discharge points, and surrounding streams. 

Upon completion of mining, we diligently pursue reclamation work to return the land to a productive post-mining land use.

We welcome interaction with our regulatory enforcement inspectors and work with them to assure the highest level of compliance.
